Tax Manager – CIS Region (Uzbekistan)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to provide in‑depth advice on tax matters across the CIS region, with a focus on Uzbekistan, and to manage transfer pricing, tax compliance, and interactions with tax authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise Masdar’s operational tax compliance obligations in Uzbekistan and other CIS countries to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Provide tax support to commercial and finance teams for new projects at development, construction, and operational stages.
• Oversee local transfer pricing matters, ensuring compliance and implementation of TP policy in daily activities.
• Handle local tax compliance processes, including timely filing of returns, payment of liabilities, and adherence to internal policies and local legislation.
• Develop, implement, and maintain local tax policies and procedures aligned with Masdar HQ standards and business requirements.
• Assist with FATCA/CRS matters, providing guidance on relevant forms to ensure legal compliance.
• Maintain functional excellence by collaborating with HQ Group Finance and the HQ Tax team.

Required profile

• Bachelor or master degree in taxation, finance or related field (Tax LLM preferred).
• Professional qualifications such as CTA, ADIT, ACCA or qualified accountant (preferred).
• 5‑7 years of experience in Uzbek taxation, transactions and tax structuring.
• Knowledge of transfer pricing (preferred).
• Proven tax compliance and provisioning experience.
• Experience with tax audits and controversy handling.
• Background in Big 4 accounting firms or law firms with Uzbek‑based experience.
• Experience in the renewable energy industry (preferred).
• Advanced level of English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of taxation, accounting and IFRS standards.
• Strong understanding of local tax legislation, international taxation principles (OECD MTC, UN MTC, BEPS/MLI) and transfer pricing guidelines.
