Financial Literacy and Business Mentorship Consultant for Grant Recipients

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a qualified consultant to deliver financial literacy and business mentorship to grant recipients under the Central Asia Safe Migration project in Uzbekistan. The consultant will work closely with returning migrants who have received business development grants, helping them manage assets, sustain income‑generating activities and comply with donor accountability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on mentoring, training and technical support to grant beneficiaries throughout the project cycle.
• Deliver practical, participatory financial literacy sessions tailored to adults with varying levels of business knowledge.
• Guide grantees on responsible financial management, business continuity and proper use and maintenance of in‑kind grant assets.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of grant schemes to ensure they meet beneficiary needs and donor requirements.
• Coordinate closely with the Labour Mobility Division and other IOM project staff to align mentorship activities with overall project objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in financial literacy, business development, entrepreneurship support or livelihood assistance.
• Proven track record of providing practical financial and business advice to micro‑enterprises or small‑scale businesses.
• Experience working with sectors such as agriculture, livestock, sewing/tailoring, small‑scale production or trade is an advantage.
• Experience supporting returning migrants, vulnerable groups or grant beneficiaries is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts in a simple, practical manner.
