Local Consultant – Integration of Healthy Lifestyle

About the role

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Uzbekistan seeks a local consultant to develop a Conceptual Framework for integrating healthy lifestyle and age‑appropriate reproductive health education into the national school curriculum. The consultant will provide technical expertise to review existing policies, assess current curriculum content, and propose practical integration pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Review national legislation, education policies, standards, curricula, and methodological materials related to healthy lifestyles and adolescent health.
• Assess the current representation and practical implementation of healthy lifestyle and reproductive health topics across grades and subjects.
• Analyze relevant international practices and evidence‑based approaches to determine applicability to Uzbekistan’s education system.
• Conduct consultations with ministries, the National Center for Psychological and Pedagogical Support, curriculum developers, teachers, and other stakeholders to validate findings and build consensus.
• Identify institutional, implementation, and social‑norm barriers and opportunities affecting integration of the targeted topics.
• Develop a conceptual approach outlining guiding principles, competency‑based learning, age‑appropriate progression, and priority thematic areas.
• Propose practical options for integrating topics through existing subjects, dedicated lessons, class hours, extracurricular activities, or school‑based initiatives.
• Prepare recommendations for a Curriculum Integration Matrix, including topic titles, grade levels, learning outcomes, delivery modalities, and indicative instructional hours.
• Design an implementation support framework with guidance on teacher manuals, student resources, digital learning tools, and capacity‑building programmes for educators and school psychologists.
• Present draft documents during technical consultations and facilitate discussion of proposed recommendations.
